Question

Yosemite Installer error

Dec 29, 2014 11:15AM PST

I installed Yosemite and cannot install anything else. I get the error message:
The Installer can't open the package. There may be a problem with file ownership or permissions.
I have verified that both ownership and permissions for the file are correct but continue to get the message. No issues with installer prion to Yosemite.

Answer
Try re-installing yosemite..

Hi,

Try re-installing yosemite again. Before that you can also try Repairing Disk Permissions in Disk Utility. That will only affect things outside your Home folder, though.
There is a home folder reset routine if you boot into Recovery.
Once booted, Open Terminal from the Utilities menu.
Type resetpassword and hit return.
Select your hard disk, then the user.
Click the Reset Home Folder Permissions and ACLs button.
Quit the utility and restart.

To boot into the recovery mode ,

Restart. When you hear the Startup Tone, hold down Cmd-R.

Hope this helps.. !!!
