But I installed Classic Shell so maybe I missed out on why many didn't like it.
The story tells my you might like the Dell XPS 13. Keep in mind I often buy such with the cheap HDD then clone it to the SSD later. I'd do that for many reasons such as I can slip in the original HDD if I need to send it into service to other reasons.
So for me.
1. XPS 13.
2. 512GB SSD http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-2-5-Inch-Internal-MZ-75E500B-AM/dp/B00OBRE5UE/ is 150USD
3. Clone kit http://www.amazon.com/Apricorn-Notebook-Upgrade-Connection-ASW-USB3-25/dp/B005C983NA/ is 23USD
4. DVDRW or BDRW since most don't have that.
BDRW http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-External-Blu-ray-SE-506CB-RSBD/dp/B00JJGFRIQ is 75
DVDRW http://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-Portable-Rewriter-GP60NB50/dp/B00C2AMK2M/ is 20USD.
My ancient samsung is killing me these days, and I desperately need a new laptop. Windows 8 was such a disaster that at times I flirt with the idea of a Mac, but every time I try one it drives me nuts.
Most important use:
Performing data analysis on massive excel spreadsheets, generally with Bloomberg going at the same time. Therefore power/speed is key. I also do some light photo editing. Must be comfortable to type on, as I can spend up to 12 hours at a time on it.
I'd prefer a 13" screen for size - can't really go smaller but I don't want a huge laptop.
I want a 512gb SSD drive as my 256gb was so full I have had to delete a lot of things.
I'd prefer to keep it under $2k, if possible.
Suggestions? I have tried out a few laptops but nothing has caught my interest.
