Yes! I get to build my own computer:)

Sep 12, 2005 7:58AM PDT

I've looked alooooot on pcmech, cnet, etc. on how to build a computer and also I've asked people how to build them that do it for a living.

Here's the deal:

Ok I have finaly gotten my parents conviced that we need a new computer<==thank the Lord<==the stats of my current computer are: less and 800mg and less than 300ramSad<=ram upgraded lol

So anyway I've got about roughly 1300 or less to spend to build a new computer.

My question is: How the heck do you sort through all the parts that are avalable and pick the right ones?

I'm planning on making my computer very upgradable.

I plan on playing games similar to world of warcraft on it.

I want it to be able to handle alot of programs open at once<==I do alot of stuff at once>_< =ram

Also what kind of monitor should i get<== i really want to spend almost all of the money on the computer itself and not some spendy monitor. Should i go lcd or crt? I want at least a 19" one.

Should I go with Athlon or intel????

Does anyone think they can help?

Sincerly over whelmed person

You might want to try Ebay for a barebones computer
Sep 18, 2005 11:54AM PDT

I am not an expert in building computers, but I have built 2 systems in the last 2 years, and what I found out was I could buy a somewhat barebones computer on Ebay cheaper than I could build one!!! Seriously, and the ones I built, all the parts came from Newegg, I could not believe they could beat the prices that I had paid.

So what I am saying is buy the case, PS, motherboard, fans(maybe) from a dealer from Ebay, and put the rest together, and purchase the rest from Newegg, or tigerdirect, or where ever.

You might save a bundle($$) and alot of grieve.

Good luck.

BTW, I hope your English grammer gets better, it is really hard to understand, unless you just cannot type, which is sometimes my problem.

AMD dual core vs. Intel dual core results are in

AMD wins in performance if you are using a single CPU-intensive application.

However, if you are running several CPU-intensive applications at once, then Intel wins (ie divx video encoding + mp3 encoding + far cry).
