Yamaha RX-V377 Receiver Problems

by bamfbiscuit / January 17, 2016 4:58 PM PST

I have a reletively new Yamaha receiver (less than a year old) and I've been experiencing a few issues with it recently. I have my tv and Xbox hooked up to it, along with some speakers. Starting about a week ago, when I'm watching anything that goes through the receiver, the sound will cut in and out about once every few minutes. I do not have this problem when I listen to music through the aux cord with my phone. My Xbox and tv are connected with HDMI cords. When the sound cuts in and out, I notice that a little lit up icon on the receiver screen goes in and out as well. This icon says "L C R" and "SL SR" which I'm assuming has something to do with the speakers. Also, when the sound cuts in and out, I can hear a little clicking noise from the receiver that sounds similar to the noise I hear when turning the receiver power on or off. Only this speaker icon turns on and off when this happens, and the other lit up icons stay on. I have unplugged and replugged the power cords and HDMI cords and this hasn't helped. I don't really feel like messing with the audio wire because it's running behind my tv and tv stand, but if checking those conext ions may help, I'll do it. If you have any tips or suggestions, or know what's going on, please let me know. Thanks!
