Question

yahoo redirect issue

Jul 20, 2013 5:33AM PDT

I have had yahoo as my home page. Recently I keep getting redirected to hsrd.yahoo or I also have seen us.lrd.yahoo also. I have a new Samsung computer with windows 8 and ie10. I can't seem to change the default home page. This is what shows up http://samsung13.msn.com.

I am hoping that someone can please help!

Thanks,
Karen

Clarification Request
Confused

I can't tell if your browser Home Page has been hijacked, or if you don't know how to change it.

I also can't tell if this is a problem on a new computer or an existing one.

Please clarify.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for helping me. I really appreciate it. I actually think it has to do with my
internet security settings. Yeah, I haven't a clue. I am really trying to find something
that shows me what settings to use. I have to customize them. When I had it at
default it was even worse. I can set my home page, but I am still seeing hsrd.yahoo.
And I can tell it's not safe to check my mail or do anything regarding my personal
accounts. I sell on Etsy and I haven't felt safe at all. I am really confused at this
point. I have a new Samsung computer. I purchased it at HSN and it came pre-
installed with windows 8 and IE10. I tried to download google chrome, but I noticed
there was a script:void error showing on the bottom left corner. I would really appreciate
any help that you could offer.

Thanks,
Karen

Windows Features Settings

I also just realized that I messed with windows features settings. Is there a guide
or something to show me how to get it back to how it was? Lesson learned.

Thanks,
Karen

A member was complaining about download.com and I installed something from that site then my homepage was hijacked and addons were installed in spite of opting out.

I used Grif's advice and another tool called ADWCLEANER as well as ejecting BING and more.
It took hours and now it's gone.

Here's grif:

ADWCLEANER is over at bleepingcomputer.com

Open Internet Explorer on the desktop.

Press and Hold "ALT" Key and then click on "Tools" - "Internet Options", by
default the "General" Tab is open

In the "Home Page" box, remove hsrd.yahoo.com and enter yahoo.com
Under "Startup", Select "Start with Homepage" button
Click Apply and then Click OK
