Yahoo Photo Site Suspicious????

Dec 30, 2005 2:16AM PST

Hi,

Happy New Year to All.
I uploaded photos to Yahoo and was preparing to order some to be delivered by mail. A message appeared that the authentication code was not exactly right, but that it was probably not dangerous - or something to that effect. When I was at the page to input my address and credit card number I noticed that altho the address started with https - the lock had a slash through it. I exited the site for now but I'm not sure if Yahoo Photos has been hacked or if this is normal. I don't remember having these problems before when I ordered photos. Thanks.

Thanks Marianna. My case was a little different because I had gone through the whole process of uploading photos to my own account. It was when I then attempted to purchase them that the strangeness appeared. I'm most concerned about the diagonal line through the lock on the site plus I saw something about the site not being secure. This is something I just never noticed before. Is it a warning sign? Yahoo photos are now involved with Target dept. store - you can order via mail or pick up at Target. Maybe that merger has something to do with the changes.

Target Yahoo photos
Dec 30, 2005 4:01AM PST

Sasha,

I had no idea - have never used Yahoo Photos.

What I found is, IF you want to pick up at Target, you will have to go here:

Great prints - for delivery or Pick Up at Target

Get up to 20 prints free!
Get high-quality prints of your digital photos that cost less and last longer than prints made at home. Have them delivered to your door, or pick them up at your local Target in as little as 1 hour. Plus get up to 20 free prints. The first 10 you order for either Pick Up or Mail Delivery are free.

As I have NO album there - I can't try it out Sad

Certificate
Dec 30, 2005 4:06AM PST

Hi again,
I went back to Yahoo via my own bookmark and as soon as I tried again to order the photos the security warning re: authentification certificate came up. That's apparently the problem - whether it's deliberate or whether it's broken I don't know but I'm not willing to take a chance. I opened an account with another service and sure enough, there was the padlock nice and normal with no lines through it.

Better stay away from it......
