Yahoo Messenger Woes

This is a odd problem I am having with Yahoo Messenger. When 7.0 came out a few months back , I installed it. After that I could
no longer see in the status bar at the
bottom of the IM window if my friends
where typing a message to me. You know, when they are typing it shows "so and so is typing a message"
Which believe me, it made the whole IM
experience very different.

I wrote Yahoo Help twice and
heard back from them. They had me reinstall 7.0 using IE instead of FireFox. It didn't work. Then I asked to downgrade back to the 6.0. They sent me a link for that and I installed it. Still no luck.

Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? Does anyone have any suggestions?
