the Yahoo server could have been busy or any number of other reasons.

I have used Yahoo for years and never had a problem.

when you 'system restored' did you check to see if the prior version of Yahoo had been uninstalled?

go to the main Yahoo and try and d/l somthing else like a free game and see if that works. then do Messenger.

In reply to: yahoo DLL library missing

i have the same problem except all that happened to me was i was using yahoo chat and someone told me i was comming choppy on the mic.i tried to refresh it but got the error message'' your pc is not configured to usecompressed audio''.i was like what?i been using yahoo for 3 years everyday and never got this message.so after about 30 retries(and about 20 restarts) i tired to uninstall and reinstall yahoo.now i cant reach any of my friends or handle certain aspects of my business.really sucks too because yahoo(in their infinite wisdom of course) decides not to support any older versions of messenger and go as far as to not even let the services be available anymore.my fault for putting trust in a messenger service i guess.any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

When I downloaded Messenger (I don't use it now) I had a small self-extractor file in the section I use for downloads, you should have the same, just re-install over the top of the original, that should fix it.

i think your misunderstanding the complexity of this situation.you CANT even download the messenger because it (for some reason) cant load the dll library.not that i have it and it doesnt work properly.doing searches ive found that theres alot of ppl out there with the same problem.thanks for the support(sarcasm) yahoo.WAY TO GO!

NO

In reply to: dll missing

What I said was that when I got Yahoo Messenger, I DOWNLOADED a small self-extractor file onto my hard disk. In fact, though i have it backed up, it's still there, so itf I wanted to load Yahoo Messenger again, it's there.

OK

Try this, run you anti-virus system scan, then reboot and go to Safe Mode. When you're in there, run an Ad-aware scan and a scan with Spybot S & D.

If there are any nasties on your system, THAT combo should shift them! Do you use a firewall? If not, get one and turn it on, now log onto BT Yahoo and go to the My Services page - the link to Yahoo Messenger is near the bottom left of the page.

Yahoo Messenger

May or may not apply

I had an issue with NetZero and Yahoo. ''yiesrvc.dll'' was causing IE to close. This DDL is part of Yahoo's DSL service and I had to disable it in IEs Manage Add Ons.
