Question

yahoo mail with verizon.net extension

Now that Verizon has purged all its email accounts my primary email is now a Yahoo email but still retains the verizon.net extension. Since this is a Yahoo email can I drop Verizon as my IP and not loose the email?

Answer
As long as you backup what you can't lose.

I've lost count of folk that forget the following.

"We only lose what we back up."

If it's on some cloud, that's someone else's computer and is not assured they will keep it for you.

Answer
you may need to keep it

one of the reasons to keep the original extension is there is a good chance someone already has an email address the same as your but with the yahoo extension.
