Question

yahoo email problems Apple OSX Ver. 10.9.5, Mail 7.3

Mar 20, 2016 7:18AM PDT

I had my email, including my Pop email, wiped out the end of January without prior notification/explanation. Tried rebuild to no avail. Some messages appeared in documents but not many. Now email is deleting emails and only leaving headers. Is anyone else having these difficulties?

Some missing details here.

I can't tell which email system or app but here, I use Thunderbird across machines without any trouble. However even with no troubles, it still means I backup what I can't lose. In Thunderbird it's widely documented how to backup and restore emails.

Emails gone...

Thank you for your response...it's ATT and there was no prior notification and I had emails from 2011, but no where near any threshold. All important emails are gone. I've never heard of Thunderbird.

So you never backed up your emails?

It sounds like you were relying on ATT to maintain these for you. I'm sure you are now finding that others scream as Yahoo, ATT and others aren't entirely stable.

Now that you know about backups and why, you can think about an email app to keep copies for the day the carrier or web site cleans up or goes offline.
