Y-Board for Gateway Plama - 46'

Oct 19, 2008 5:00AM PDT

I realize that there are a lot of posts on the lousy Gateway Plasmas so sorry in advance for adding another.

I have now had to replace my Y-Board twice. Both times the boards blew in the summer as soon as the indoor temperature reached upper 70s with high humidity (I don't have AC). Naturally, I won't make that mistake next year.

I just replaced the Board and the TV works fine again (Go Red Sox), so hopefully I'll have the TV for the Series and for Football season.

Anyway, has anybody (1) figured out which part on the board fails?; and (2) if so, I'd be willing to pay to have someone replace that part for me.

Thanks.
AC

Do you see any IRFP460 's on that board?

I don't see any chips that say IRFP460 ... but maybe they are too small to have the imprint?

Upon further inspection, there are 16 IRFP460A on the top side of the Board. They also say I^R (which I thought was the brand), but the other info varies .... some say 316XC, 3P, and 3T; others say 314XD, 3N and 2J; and some I can't read.

Yes- there are 4 IR2113S chips

Yes- there are 4 IR2113S chips on the backside -- 2 two them say "0316" and 2 say "0409." All say IOR (which I assume is the manufacturer).

OK, here's the problem.

Those are the suspect bad parts. Your decision on if it's worth replacing all of them.
