xVid DivX Mpeg 4

Jan 14, 2006 1:23PM PST

I was wondering...If I dont care about menus and special features what is the best way to store DVDs on the Computer. I was wondering about quality and compression. Where do those formats line up? Can I put a DVD into lets say 700 MB? WHats the best program I can use to do this. Both in terms of speed and ease of use...Thanks a bunch

Xvid I believe is open source so it's free but may required a little learning curve. Divx is pretty simple to use but cost about $20 (divx.com). Mpeg4 comes in different variety and I have some burning software comes with it. As for space and quality goes; I think they are pretty much the same. So just pick one and try it.
