You have the battery, the wall adapter and the motherboard in the laptop. I'd replace the cheapest part first then the next and finally the last when trying to fix this.
Bob
I was in south america for a few months. While I was there my computer became very finicky about which outlets would charge the battery and which ones would only power it in a 'plugged-in, not charging state'.
Since returning to north america, however, I've yet to find a power outlet that charges the battery.
What can I do about this?
