try the Safe Mode option.

Restart the computer, wait for the BIOS to perform its normal checks, (memory, hard disks, etc), then just before or just as Windows begins to load, start tapping the F8 key once a second. This should interrupt the load process and give you Safe Mode options.

Try any of those and let us know.

I can't say, "and after the safe mode settings..." because I know little about your system. All I can do is offer the Safe Mode list of options for you to try.

Here's some information about XP's Safe Mode;

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
