XP with newly loaded SP2 won't shut down

by lowewilliamcou812 / April 8, 2006 10:04 PM PDT

I have finally installed SP2 into my XP system, but for some reason the system won't shut down on its own. The shut down process seem sto be acting normally and the hard disk shuts off (i think) but the computer is still on. Any ideas?

Exists that there are problems with spyware/malware and/or viruses on your machine. Unload SP2 and run the scans - preferably rebooting to safe mode for the spyware/malware scans - run a virus scan THEN load SP2 onto the nachine again.

The trouble is that MS did not bother to tell anyone this was needed prior to loading SP2, with the predictable result that quite a lot think SP2 is to blame when in actual fact it's not, it's just the lack of information given.
