XP wireless adapter disconnects when browser is opened.

when I boot xp, system wireless connects to my network.
I have 2 other wireless (Vista & W7) connected no problem.

As soon as I open IE or FF the connection drops and sometimes it will connect to another unsecured net in the area.
Once disconnected my network does not appear in the list of available networks.

If I try to reconnect, as long as the browser is open, it will not. If I close the browser, it will reconnect.

what is happening?????????

Cisco/linksys USB adapter.
with or without linksys manager.
