XP/Vista dual boot sound problem

Feb 17, 2007 1:33PM PST

I have a 250gb hdd that I've partitioned in half to accept both operating systems. I've done formatted and clean installed the XP and formatted the second partition to accept Vista. Install was clean on both. But as soon as I boot to Vista, I will lose my sound in XP. Device Manager says all is well (it's not) Latest driver is in. I can't get any sound at all from XP. I had a similar problem with RC2. I use an integrated sound card on an Intel D101GGC board. (Realtek). I am now bald from pulling my hair out trying to figure this one out. Any Ideas?

I can try help but first have you tried uninstalling the sound drivers and then reinstalling them?

Realtek...

Apparently, there are a lot of people having problems with the Realtek drivers for audio. As I happen to be one of the many who is, I'll be sure to add this to the list of issues.

As for your specific problem, the only advice I can give is to make sure that you are running the latest drivers on both XP and Vista. I would think that because it is realtek, you are simply having one of the headaches associated with the Realtek and Vista Combo
