XP System Recovery

I own a Dell inspiron 1000, runnin Windows XP Home Edition. The laptop has been ravaged by brontok and other like trojans and viruses. I m attempting to return the system back to the condition it was in wen i first got it. System restore no longer works. DVD Rom also stopped readin media and so cannot reinstall XP with cd!! System usually freezes up. Is there a system recovery that i can do?

Cleaning the DVD disc and the optical lense? There are cleaning kits you can buy.

thanks for response, yeah i have tried cleanin discs but even those will not load to begin the process. Saving for a new dvd drive but would like a manual solution for system recovery in the mean time.

Without a jack? Not only dangerous but nearly impossible. If you have failed hardware you are attempting something nearly as hard and "unsupported."
