XP SP1 download

by Rosie Sis / April 2, 2009 12:55 AM PDT

I have an old computer with XP that has never had the service packs installed. I tried to download SP 3, but cannot install until I have SP 1 or SP 2. I searched for these, but the official websites say neither is available. I am hesitant to try elsewhere. Is there some safe way to download these older SP?

I've installed SP3 on a "XP" machine that didn't have SP1 or SP2. I wonder if you meant it was forcing the udpates to IE 6 and such in order to allow SP3?

In any case just take it online and then use Windows Update.

XP SP 1

I went to Microsoft Update and the message said in order to install SP 3, you must have either Sp 1 or SP 2 already installed. I tried it anyway, but it just sat there for hours doing nothing.

I turn on Automatic Updates and let it figure it out.

I didn't reply with where the SP1 download is because you could find that on your own.

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
