XP Shuts off after booting

Aug 13, 2007 9:19AM PDT

Can't figure this out

HP 7875 AMD processor 1.30 Gb 512 mb memory

I start the computer and it start normally. Goes through its boot process and get me to the desktop. Then it will turn itself off. Does not matter if you are working on something or not. 15-45 secounds in it just looses power. It will not turn back on right away let it sit for a minute or 2 and it will turn on with the power switch and it may or may not do it right away. No issues in device manager showing problems. Power supply is only 1 yr old. Ran virus and spybot nothing shows.

HD does not make noise or smell burnt.

Any help would be great !

Try it with the cover off.

See if the CPU heatsink is in place and that it's fan is turning. Does it take longer with the cover off?

POWER OFF NOW!

The CPU heatsink is NEVER removed and power applied. I checked my response and I see no direction to try that.

You need to look at your language again.

This is a nice place. These forums are friendly ones and name calling is not friendly. Please reconsider the use of such names as "moron" in future. There's no need for it here and that's why I deleted your other post.

Still wont start first time
Aug 15, 2007 10:01AM PDT

I still have the problem

CPU temp 47C
All fans working
CPU fan checked to make sure it is tight
All added soft ware removed
All recenty added hardware removed and tried and re-installed (PCI USB2.0 Card)
Virus scan run again
Spybot and an online remove run again
PS checked at a store

If I am using both the 2.0 card and the 1.0 ports for USB devices would this cause an issue.
Could a failing HD cause the issue ?
Again nothing shows to have issues in task manager only thing yellow or red is a Legacy Audio Device.

It has started to run a scan disk on start up even with a soft shutdown. And I just noticed that it will do this on reboots

Once it gets past the shudown time when it normallyu does this it seems to be fine and will run for extended periods of time with out the issue showing up

Any suggestion on this I am still lost on the next step to take ?

Did you look in the event viewer,it may give a clue.To get inti event viewer, start, run, and type eventvwr

I don't know which AV you have, try AVG ANTI VIYUS and AVG ANTI SPYWARE and scan in safe mode.

Did you try system restore?

Maybe there is some infection that your programs are unable to find, you might consider HJT

But By removing all usb devices from the 1.0 card and charging the Key board to a ps connection style. It has not done it again. I have been letting run 20 then booting and waiting 5 mins and doing a reboot. I just started this to try and make it again

I will let you know
