Given you just installed XP, the lesson here is that Microsoft will not update your BIOS or ask you go fetch your motherboard drivers nor does XP ask you try ACPI or APM settings in the BIOS. Your hardware may not support turning off the power.

Hi guys,
have just done a clean reinstall of XP PRO on a reformatted partition. XP shuts down ok, but computer does not turn off, I get the message "it is now safe to turn off your computer".
Can't remember where I went before to get automatic shutdown.
Thanks
