Of whether a person kept a backup copy. Installing an OS is bad enough. Restore media can return the machine to just like it arrived with just one or so partitions.
Is there a backup copy if the restore media wipes the drive?
Sorry to post this same question again in a different forum - but I am new here and thought this would be a better place....
I have a gateway desktop that is about 3-4 years old. I want to do a complete os reinstall etc. Since I purchased the computer, I upgraded the hard drive to a 500GB one and made 4-5 partitions.
I want to remove all the gunk and crud and start from new so I had to purchased a Restore DVD from them (since the system did not come with one)
My question is - if I do the reinstall/restore, will it also erase the files on my new partitioned sections? Am I OK just so it all takes place on my C drive?
Could gateway have something proprietary (like they do on some things)
that would not make this work?
I would appreciate anyone's help.
