XP problems

IE wont open, if it does, i cant browse, it wont even access a page, thought it was on the browser

but WMP11 wont play anything, once it opens, it freezes

now i cant get into explorer, neither thru my documents etc. nor my computer

whats wrong? never downloaded ne thing, never installed anything

only thing i did was shut down afta 5 minutes due to low voltage affecting my UPS

that thread i thought IE7 was the problem, now this is something in windows i think, not sure but its diffinately (sp) not IE7 only.

doing a repair install of Windows XP if you are sure you're sure it can't be malware because you never installed a program from the web or visited a bad webside or opened a bad mail or visited the web with the firewall deactivated. Use www.windowsreinstall.com for instructions.

Then if that doesn't work, because it's malware despite what you think, do an online antivirus scan such as http://housecall.trendmicro.com/. But it may be already too late for that, if IE doesn't run.

Then it's time to start thinking about a clean reinstall. You write in your other thread you don't like that idea, but it could be the only thing remaining.

for your help, am gonna try those, i've uninstalled IE7, running IE6, if all that and the problem still persists, i will have to backup this 160GB and reinstall XP, thanx again, will keep update.............

to try system restore back to when it still worked correctly. Not guaranteed to work, but worth a try.
