XP Problem File

Nov 28, 2004 8:56AM PST

I keep getting this blue screen that pops up and starts dumping physical memory. It says Problem File:
vsdatant.sys. How do I fix it? Now the same screen just popped up that says Bad Pool Caller? Is that bad? Please help.

figured it out and tech support people are stupid!!!

Its a problem with Zone Alarm. I just uninstalled the program and the vsdatant.sys is off my system, so thats why I am assuming it was zone alarm and some people refered to that file with zone alarm.

here is the fix if this is happening to you.

1. Configure ZoneAlarm preferences so that ZoneAlarm does not load at system
startup. This can be done by running the ZoneAlarm Control Center and clear
ing the Load at Startup check box. This step is optional, but doing this pre
vents ZoneAlarm from unnecessarily alerting you to a system change. Keep in
mind this setting will only be temporary.

2. Start the Computer Management applet by right-clicking My Computer then s
electing Manage.

3. Click Device Manager in the left-hand pane.

4. On the Computer Management menu bar, click View, and ensure that "Show hi
dden devices" is checked.

5. Click the '+' sign beside the Non-Plug and Play Drivers entry in the righ
t-hand pane of the Computer Management applet to expand these devices.

6. Scroll down to the entry for VSDATANT, right-click it, and select Disable
.

7. Reboot your computer. The CHKDSK will then run.

8. After the CHKDSK is complete and your computer reboots, return to the Com
puter Management applet and re-enable the VSDATANT device.

9. Return to the ZoneAlarm Control Center, re-enable the Load at Startup opt
ion, and reboot the computer.
