Non-genuine copies of Windows are often hacked. This can cause system instability as well as significant security issues, particularly if the individual had malicious intent. (The possibilities of stealing the user's personal information are endless.) In addition to those risks, we do not support the use of non-genuine (pirated/illegal) copies of Windows. Thus, my advice is to either purchase a legitimate copy of Windows, with remaining XP licenses often offered at a discount, or switch to another operating system. Either way, backup your personal files and start over, as there is no guarantee the problem can be fixed, or that others do not exist.
