xp pro 'un-upgradeable' cause it's not 'purchased'

well, i got xp pro disc at flea market, with the six million digit code and am able to load it into the computer. however, certain 'upgrades' won't work such as SP2, because it's not a copy that's elegible - to them. even though I paid money for it...

Long story short, it works great. It's fast, reliable, etc., but is prone to viruses or some other **** because I have to wipe that partition on a regular basis and do the complete reinstall to use my software that's only good under windows. It's nowhere as fast and reliable as my other boot option. Linux. ********. XP pro is ok for finding a wireless network connection as I move this laptop around, but is limited on which one to connect to, etc. When booted to linux, I get choices, has never ever failed, and doesn't resist the manufacturer's efforts to improve itself!

you pay that price,

In reply to: xp pro 'un-upgradeable' cause it's not 'purchased'

you get to do the time.

none of us here advocate purchase of MS EXCEPT with warranty and, from a reputable source. [Hint this does not include flea markets.]

so if you have to wipe clean each time, you can do it or, try taking it back to the flea market where you bought it and get your money returned.

i do not think anyone here feels like discussing this further.

It serves no purpose discussing the trials and tribulations that arise when purchasing a pirate copy of anything.

I will delete the thread in a while
