Forget about it.
The place to get Pro is when you get the machine. It will run at most 99USD to move that up a notch. After that you will find your school bookstore to be the next cheapest and after that you are on your own to find a place to sell yout the upgrade.
CNet and this place doesn't sell this product and since we get the OS with the machine, we don't shop around for the last few licenses we need. Your price should vary from 99 to a maximum of 199USD for this upgrade.
As to legalities, that's a nutty issue. You may have to consult a lawyer since I can't fully understand the agreements in my country and don't want to know what agreements there are as you cross countries. Then again, you could just find your upgrade and install it and leave the lawyers to feed among themselves.

Hi. I'm planning to upgrade my XP Home to XP Pro.
I'm wondering, since I'm a student, is there a way for me to get an academic version at a discounted price?
And since I'm in Malaysia, where should I buy it from? It's quite strange, when I visit Amazon and Amazon.uk, both of them quote the same price figure, albeit different currency, e.g. in US, it's 199 USD, but in Amazon.uk, it's 199 GBP.
So, is it possible for me to buy from a place of lower currency, then bring it to Malaysia to use? Or will it violate the license?
By the way, does any one have any ideas on contacting Microsoft? I've sent many e-mails to them about this, but so far have not received any replies. Quite different from what I imagined of their customer support, although I know I'm just a very small customer of them.
