XP Pro shuts down

Hello there,

I did a clean install with XP Pro and now it shuts
down with,LSA Shell (expanded Version) NT Authority
system. I went to services and changed the settings
for RPC to take no action as it was shuting down.
Now I get NT AUTHORITY doing it,How can I fix this.
THanks for your time.

If I remember, even the first item noted how to avoid the shutdown.

Are you researching this?

Hi, yes I did read some of them and it said to install
XP's fire wall. I didn't know that XP had a fire wall,I'm a newbie with do I install the fire
wall.I thought that by doing a new install,I should
not have any worms.

What do you need?

"Follow the instructions provided for your operating system, and then reconnect to the Internet.

* Windows XP users: Click here for instructions."

With all the fine resources on this worm, you may want to read the oen that makes sense to you.

What you NEED TO KNOW is next...

"thought that by doing a new install,I should
not have any worms."

-> TRUE! But it also installs the version of XP that allows almost INSTANT infection by MS Blaster within seconds of connecting to the Internet.

My suggestion is to call your OS supplier and demand a XP SP1 CD so you won't have to do this again, and again, and again....

Hi Bob, that is very good advice and I am going to
just that.I ran the fix for ms Blaster, windows ME
had the worm, windows XP was clean and I still get
the NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM shut down.Do you think I
should re-install XP? Hey! I'll try anything.
again thanks for time

Just reply further up if you can't to this.

In reply to: Re:What do you need?

Removing the worm only removes it, but the gaping hole lets it right back in.

Read the link about how to temporarily stop it. Let me be clear that I do not duplicate the content here since there is no need to do that and what if I copied it wrong...
