XP Pro install problem

I'm having some difficulty installing windows xp. I've had several failed attempts where the system locks up at 34 min. I've rebooted each time with the result. The system starts installing over. The last time this happened I rebooted and the system gave the message that installation would restart. However, the screen went black with no further progress.

You likely have incompatible hardware or BIOS needs updating.

When you try to upgrade to Windows XP, your computer may stop responding (hang) and a black screen may be displayed.

This behavior may be caused by either hardware or software that is incompatible with Windows XP."

With computer off, try disconnecting all peripherals like printer, scanner, and use a ball mouse[not optical] to reduce chances of incompatable hardware. Then try the install. Joe
