"I don't remember having to add "Guests" to the security everytime I share a folder (although I must admit I'm very unexperienced in Windows XP, especially Pro). Bottom line? With any number of possible tweaks that a machine builder can do (Dell, HP, others), your machine is unique in this world. You can not count on the settings to be the same from machine to machine.
This bothers a few people.

Hi. I'm helping my friend troubleshooting his Windows XP Pro computer, which is on the same network as mine.
Everytime, if he shares the folder by choosing Properties of the folder, then set it to Share This Folder, users from other computers will not be able to access that folder. I managed to fix it by adding an entry Guests into the Security tab. With the Guests in the Security, other users are able to access his folder, without that, they won't be able to do so. What they will get is an Access Denied message.
I don't remember having to add "Guests" to the security everytime I share a folder (although I must admit I'm very unexperienced in Windows XP, especially Pro). My friend himself also remembers that a few weeks ago, he is able to share his folder, without having to add "Guests". May I know what is causing it?
Besides that, I'm curious, how come is his Security events log empty? How should I enable it back?
Thanks a lot.
