XP Password Help

by garthfan0523 / March 20, 2008 9:49 AM PDT

Hi all,

I just upgraded to XP from a WindowsMe system. Don't laugh, I'm poor! lol

Anyways, I access my work e-mail frequently through our webmail address (https:\\ . On my old WindowsMe system, when the domain/username/password box popped up, it also asked if I would like the system to save my password for future logons. This was a great convenience to me because there's nothing sensitive about my work e-mail and it saved me from having to type in the information every time I logged on.

Windows XP doesn't seem to have that function. Every time I log on to my webmail, the little box pops up asking for username and password and that's it. If I keep the browser window open, then I can return as much as I like without logging in. But, as soon as I close the window, I have to log in again.

Anything I can do?

2 items. Auto complete user names and passwords on the Content tab of Internet Properties. On the Advanced tab under Security, you might check, Enable Integrated Windows Authentication.

Thanks for the tips. I had already made sure that the AutoComplete functions were set, but didn't know about the Integrated Authentication. However that, too, was already checked.

With my WindowsMe system, the checkbox to save the data was right on the pop-up login box. On XP, there is only entry blocks for the username and password. I guess it's really not that big of a deal; I just liked the convenience of only having to click once to log on. Now I have to retype the information every time I go to the site.

Thanks again!

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
