XP Mode, denied access

Dec 15, 2009 11:14PM PST

I have Win 7 and loaded XP mode successfully. It is there 'hibernating'. I reboot and when I try to access XP mode I am denied access. I am the admin, have full access on my user name. I have spent several hours reading and checking published docs on this. I can find nothing about being denied access. I must have not checked some box? Help appreciated.

ownership
Dec 16, 2009 10:08PM PST

Hello,
I tried to change some of the settings to Users and get a message of "inconsistancies' and so i have decided to format the harddrive and reload Win 7 to get a clean system (as i am just now moving over to Win 7 on a new Dell) I will then check the ownership on the files and folders.
I laugh at how something that was supposed to be easy always ends up taking hours and hours to make it work. lol
Thanks, your answer was the best so far.

XP will not open after installed?
Dec 17, 2009 1:44AM PST

Ok, I reloaded Win 7 totally so the system was empty of any mistakes I might have made earlier. Clean install of both XP Mode and Virtual. Bios is active. I also went to the site above and downloaded a program for 'right click take ownership' and did that.
Now what was different this time was when I clicked start, all programs, virtural and then XP mode nothing happened, so i went to start, all programs, Virtual and it openned a window with the virtual drives on it. None were there so I created one. Now it is there and "hibernating". I right mouse clicked to make sure i owned it and even then it will not fire up. I went back to start, all prgrams, vitual PC and XP mode and still, nothing happens. The mouse spins for a few moments and the hard drive runs also and then nothing. Really got me beat this time.

XP mode will not start
Dec 17, 2009 10:01AM PST

I just ran the trouble shooter for XP mode.exe in my download file and it asked to run the program (this is the installer program), it said that the XP mode was installed. Ok, but still i see it in my user folder of C drive as hibernating.
Now when i did the full reinstall of Win 7 this morning and then reinstall of Virtual and XP mode I never got the window saying the user was going to XPMuser and accept, etc. I did the other time I installed this. I only could install an XP mode from the Virtual Folder menu in my user folder.
Now this is all from a new, clean install of Win 7. In C: drive the program files of x86 it says the virtual folder is there and the integration folder is there. I see no executable files there to troubleshoot. Back in the user folder it says there is a virtual xp there, hibernating. This is the same as before.
On one of the brocheres it said I should get an icon (i think) on Win 7 desktop to start the program. I never have seen that.
I have a Dell 546MT
AMD Atrhlon II X4 620 2.6 Ghz
64 Bit operation system
BIOS has virtual Enabled

THanks for the help

finally

OK, a clean format of Drive C, a step by step install and it finally works. Took 2 complete installs of Win 7 to get it. I think the format of drive C helped also remove anything resident (like resident evil) from the system.
