XP Laptop Drive Crashed, want to get Email from that drive

Aug 5, 2007 2:23AM PDT

My laptop with XP was knocked off of a table, and would no longer boot up. I decided to use the opportunity to upgrade toa modern laptop which of course runs Vista. I took my old laptop drive out and installed into an external drive enlosure. I have been able o get photos, music and other data from the old drive to the new laptop. How do I go about getting saved email messages from Outlok Express migrated over to the new laptop? So far I am using the Microsoft Mail application included in Vista. All help is appreciated.

Copy and import....
Aug 5, 2007 6:55AM PDT

Search for a .dbx file on your old hard drive, copy the e-mail database file to your new computer, then from within Windows Mail go File->Import->Messages->Microsoft Outlook Express 6->Import mail from an OE6 store directory and then browse for the database file. It should import all of the e-mails within moments.

Hope this helps,
John

Import doesn't see he .dbx files
Aug 5, 2007 10:00AM PDT

John, thanks. I found the files on the old drive, moved them to a folder on my new laptop. When trying to do the import, the program doesn't see the files in the directory I created. Any ideas? I can see the files in the directory when loking at the drive in My Computer. (or whatever it's called in Vista).
