Xp Installation Problem???

Hi there how u all been.I just reinstalled Xp and then installed my network drivers.I have roger cable internet n it was working fine at a good speed but soon after i dnloaded and installed windows updates my iternet started to sloe down and lag alot.So i wannted to ask is the microsoft ppl having too many bugs in the updates?Is it really the updates which slowed my internet becus i ran alot of antiviruse scans i.e stinger and searched for spyware nothign was found so i had to ask u guy if u know wats goign on n how can i resolve my problem.Thx in advance...U pps are doing a well done job (Y)

That's a big issue since the Nachi, MS-Blaster and other worms can find your machine before you can patch it.

Look up Nachi on http://www.google.com to see why this is a big issue. Stinger may or may not find all varients, but you have to get it patched or a varient of the worm may find your machine.

BUt how can i fix my internet back to teh normal speed...As i diditn find no viruses or worm on my pc and i applied th rpc patch just incase but still no luck...Plz tell me wat to do bro....

I'd look to system restore to when it seemed ok.

Many rely on just their Antivirus. Sadly this isn't good enough. Did you try Housecall?

I tried housecall,stinger,any worm patches i could find all the latest updates everything but still no luck.This always happens when i format n reinstall windows Xp is it because i am behind a router or that i dont have the right administrative previlleges to access the router to get a new ip address as i am behind a cable internet.I dunno but wat if i do system restore which i made right be4 i updated my system will all of my programmes which i instalklled afterwards n teh updates b gone?
