You'd need a disk from a qualifying OS to use the upgrade version each time regardless of the service pak. Slipstreaming SP3 into the original doesn't change that need. Hang onto your old OS disks as long as you may need to reinstall XP.
I own a retail copy of Windows XP Home Edition SP1 upgrade. I used Autostream to slipstream SP3 and IE7 and burned a new disk. When I went to do the installation, setup asked for me to insert the disk with XP SP3 to continue. I realize I have to insert a Windows 95 or 98 disk to do a clean install with my upgrade version, but why didn't slipstreaming SP3 work?
Thanks
