Use the restore feature to return to a day before all this happened. Hopefully, you'll get all your features back again. Then if that MS update is the same one effecting ZA users, then its firewall related if Norton supplied, then reduce Norton's protection if possible. The other side is to remove the MS KB hotfix. You can still use own XP firewall if none available, activate it. Review the MS KB hotfixes(int ehe security/vrus/malware form here, check the ZA problem discussed for the KB#) in the add/remove section, check to enable viewing the updates to display. Then check the dates provided if so found for the date you updated. You can also review from a system that get get online, Norton's own forums and see if the problem is already discussed and any fixes for a work-around. You also review the better removal of Norton to reload it again w/o past installs. Norton removal can be difficult and cause other issues.
