XP Home edition with SP1a included Update- at the kind attention of David Chan

Dear David, I have just received my new Dell Dimension 4600 with XP home edition SP1a included installed. As you have advised me to download all the patches before any internet connection, I wonder if I can do auto-update because I have already looked up Microsoft update site with my old Dell Windows 98SE, I am puzzled to select the necessary patches to download and burn to a CDR.

Use Auto-Update is fine...

Yes.

Just set it to auto-update and it will select all critical/security updates for you.

Ther are also some Recommended Updates which you can go through and select individually.

The update for .Net Framework is not necessary for most cases.

Also SP1a doesn't include Java support....
