Hello guys. Im new here.
My problem started up yesterday. Computer felt a little hot so I turned it off and decided to see how dusty it was, if any.
I opened it up and took out my vid card and network card and blew off the dust and off my CPU fan. (didnt have a can of air) MB looked fine.
Pretty simple i thought. I turned the computer back on and it just hang at the XP loading screen with the little blocks going by. I've let it sit for 10 minutes doing that and nothing.
I rebooted about 2 dozen times and nothing. I managed to get into safemode and did a system restore to the previous day,not sure what else to do there, so I tried another reboot. Still no luck.
I have not installed any hardware, or driver updates recently, nothing new.
I tried the recovery console and used the fixboot option, which did nothing to help. I tried again with bootcfg to reset it to defaults (im kinda clueless here)That didnt work either.
I even did a full repair of windows, which i guess installs all new files. No luck there.
Finally I just reinstalled windows over my old installation, which it deleted my old windows and reinstalled a new one. That managed to get it working, until i installed my network card drivers, the install program froze. So I ctrl alt deleted it and then it told me to reboot.
After the reboot, its doing the same thing again. Im back in safemode doing a HD scan for bad sectors. Other than that I dont know what to do.
Im trying to avoid a format as much as possible.
Sorry if this was to long, just trying answer as man questions as possible before they are asked.
Thanks in advance
Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly
Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
