I bought a used laptop from the office over 2 mths ago and it's been running fine until last weekend. It's a IBM X20, P3 laptop (circa 2001).
Now, on bootup, when the black WinXP screen appears (with the blue automatic scroll/progress bar), after a while (90 seconds-ish), the machine freezes. Nothing happens and only a hard reboot will shut the laptop down.
On reboot, hangs again.
I went into PCWorld today in London, and they suggested I boot up in Safe Mode, choose an old System Restore Point and bootup. I was able to do this, but same problem, again, at the 1st WinXp screen
Any ideas for me to get out of this dreaded loop?
Many Thks in advance,
