Microsoft offers support?

I thought all they gave was installation support for retail versions. But beyond that, is the "support" really worth the price? Most phone support people are barely trained, and are often completely lost without their list of canned responses.

Also, OEM version are locked to whatever hardware you first activate it on. They absolutely will not activate on another machine, even if you uninstall it from the previous system. It lives and dies with that computer. That alone can be worth the retail price for some people.

OEM XP is NOT locked to the original hardware.
That may be the case for OEM from DELL HP and the like, but I have moved XP OEM from one machine to the next due to hardware failure and it will activate again just fine.
If it was activated prior in a very short time maybe less than 2 months, you may have to call to get a activation number, but I have never been refused by M$.

Ebay

You can get a choice of unused OS's on Ebay under 'computing'> 'software'. They vary in price but you'll have to make your own choice.
