XP Boot Problem

by ecoops / April 8, 2007 2:44 AM PDT

Running Dell Inspiron 8200 w/ Win XP Home. CD/DVD is broken - won't read CD's - but have Floppy Drive. When boot up get to Win XP logo and then screen goes blank except for cursor arrow which works. Have original XP CD that came with laptop. When reboot it shows the three options - have tried all three and still get onlt cursor. Can I copy from CD to floppy to try top boot that way and if yes what do I copy to the floppy?

The odds are against you that you could make 200 good floppy disks.

The fix is... to get the CD/DVD drive replaced if it's dead.
