since you built the computer, you will have instructions in the motherboard manual on how to reset the BIOS. usually, this involves removing the backup battery and then shorting some jumpers.
Herb....
Running XP Home on a newly built system with AMD Athlon 2500 processor and Nvidia chipset Mobo. Everything was working for awhile until I went to into BIOS to make a couple of changes. Now XP will not boot, cannot clear the CMOS, mouse and keyboard are dead, it's like the computer is in standby and will not come out. Sometimes I get a continuous series of beeps when I turn it on but sometimes not. This problem occurred occasionally before but pushing the reset button or clearing the CMOS fixed it. Help!
