Question

XML converter needed for a Panther system

Jul 26, 2011 2:36AM PDT

Hi guys, I have a Clamshell 366 MHz running Panther OS. It is loaded
with MS Office for the Mac 2004. Any suggestions on what app to use so I
can view and edit MS Office documents saved in the newer XML format
that was introduced in 2007? For this purpose, I have OpenXMLConverter
in my other faster Macs with Tiger, but it won't run in Panther. I've
considered installing OpenOffice but decided against it because it's not
fully compatible with MS documents (font problems, pictures in the text
don't display in the correct place, etc) and also my small hard drive
is running out of free space. Any suggestions?

I uploaded those docx files to Google docs and then saved it back to an older format.

No, I didn't check if Microsoft issued some addon to 2004.

@mrmacfixit:

Thanks for the link, but as the web page says, I must have Tiger OS (10.4.9) for it to work. My clamshell only has Panther OS (10.3), the maximum that the hardware will take.
