Question

XLSX file extentions won't open in Win 10, after Carbonite

Apr 5, 2017 7:49AM PDT

Just got a new Dell 5567 laptop running windows 10 home. Installed MS Office Pro 2007 from same legit disc as my previous laptop. Used Carbonite to transfer & download files to new laptop. Files extracted from zip file fine and are in the right places on new hard drive but-
Word & PDF files open fine. Excel XLS (’93-2003) files also fine, but Excel 2007 –XLSX file extensions will not open. Windows 10 shows a doc preview in the pane, but won’t open it full screen. Double click on doc opens Internet Explorer window “View & Track your downloads”, and asks “Open or Save”? Open does not open, and Save options also do nothing. All clicks loop back to IE window. WTH?? Any hints? PS- I downloaded the Office 2007 service pack 3 from the Microsoft website, and seem to remember it asking if I wanted to DL the extension(?) to open later (than 2007(?) versions of excel docs. I said yes- does this have anything to do with anything? Thanks much-
