The tech went into a menu (sorry but I don't have a manual) to turn off PBC (push button connect) and it worked. And yes the LAN cable worked fine too.
Moved to apt building with Xfinity the only option. Got their wifi modem, failed at connecting. Their help tried refreshing signal, etc. No dice. Offered me installer for $$$. No way. Meanwhile, in new digs lacking internet (except upstairs neighbor's) we have lost Vonage and relying exclusively on smartphone for more than a month is costing me hundreds of extra minutes.
Question: I have MacBook Air, without LAN port. I can buy an adaptor to create a LAN port -- for $15. Given that the xfinity wifi modem has been declared unreachable, will making my MacBook LAN-able ... work? So I can save the $40 tech call and get online faster?
