Xferring VHS video tape to a DVD

Oct 9, 2004 11:24PM PDT

Hi,
I currently use Nero Ultra s/w to xfer my camcorder video to a DVD on my PC, which works great. I have an Adaptec FireConnect 4300 in my PC.

However, I'm trying to transfer some VHS tapes to DVD as well and have some questions. Basically, I need something which connects from the back of the VCR and into the PC. Has anyone used the Dazzle product?

Any recommendations are welcome. Thanks.

I donot use Dazzle but take a look at my reply to the DVR technology post. I personally uses Adaptec dvd media center (usb 2.0 and ntfs). I want to warn you though..encoding dvd using software/s is a very time consumming process.

My brother uses Dazzle and has had both successes and frustrations with it. I use an analog/digital converter made by Canopus which works great because it is not a "capture card." Using it, video software "see" a digital video signal coming in, so things go smoothly. This is how I get my VHS and Hi8 tapes into the PC.

It is a lot of money for the little black box (around $300 here in Japan), but I think it's worth it.

We recently purchased the Dazzle product and have had nothing but headaches with this software. Their support is lacking and the software itself seems to be unstable. It would be nice if it would work because it appears to be a simple program to operate. Anyone have any other options?
