Xfer NTFS files to FAT 32 drive.

by Ray Harinec / October 15, 2004 11:36 PM PDT

This is for academic interest only.

I had a system with XP Pro on a drive with two NTFS partitons, the boot and then other stuff. It had a second drive formatted in FAT 32, had plenty empty space. I copied all of the files from the NTFS non-boot partiton to a place on the FAT32 drive. This is only for the purpose of having the file names available as a reminder of things I had to use with creating a website which I haven't used in so long I was afraid that I would forget.

This FAT 32 drive will be moved to the new system I am building, which will also have a two partition NTFS drive with the boot as one partiton.

My only question is: what format are the files that were moved from the NTFS drive to the FAT 32 drive in??? I know that they will not execute without being reinstalled to reestablish the .dll's et al.

The files will have the same content as before. The format of the file will be unchanged since... it has the exact content as before.

If they didn't then many things in this world would not work.
