Resolved Question

Xeon E5-2660 motherboard?

Mar 11, 2016 11:25AM PST

I recently purchased a Intel Xeon Eight-Core Processor E5-2660 2.2GHz 8.0GT/s 20MB LGA2011 CPU, OEM. When i went to install it in my pc, it was too big. Unfortunately, I didn't know there are different sizes. I'm not really sure what motherboard to get that's not going to kill my wallet (also my wife might kill me). Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

What you have is a 2660 v1.
It's a server cpu and it's old.
A mobo to fit that thing will cost serious bucks if it's available at all.

Get rid of the thing and move on to a I5/I7.

on that your PC.? From what I can see, all the motherboard have dual sockets...which would mean a little higher in cost. Xeon E5 I believe are version 2, and version 3 are i7. Of course I could be wrong also.
