xD Card Reader problem

by The ancient one / September 27, 2010 9:24 AM PDT

A number of years ago I bought my wife a fujiFilm S5000 and an xD card reader which she has used for all this time. Just recently she purchased a new 2 GB xD picture card which will not work in the xD reader. Her old card was only 128 MB in size. Do you think that the size of the picture card is the reason it won't work in the reader? And if so are there other readers that will handle a 2 GB picture card?

It may not be just the larger capacity, but the newest xD cards.

Here is a quote from a Wikipedia article:

"The newer cards are also incompatible with some card readers."

I suggest you read the article at:

The ancient one, The size of that card is the reason it won't work in that card reader. I also have a Fuji which uses an xD picture card and my old card reader would only read cards up to 512 MB. I bought a new 1 GB xD card and the old card reader wouldn't read it and I had to buy a new card reader.

I will look into a new card reader that can handle the 2GB xD card. For the time being we just download via the USB connection.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
