***** Xbox 360 vs Laptop *****

by elmotorolaguy / September 6, 2010 5:03 AM PDT

I will be going into college this fall and my budget is at most $1100 bucks TOTAL, including taxes and everything. I wanted to play Call of Duty: Black Ops and some other games. So i don't know if i should buy the Lenovo laptop for $999 TOTAL, already including all the additional charges, or if I should buy a less expensive laptop, the $200 dollar Xbox 360 4gb slim, and a $150 19 inch HDTV. Below are the specifics.

IdeaPad Y560 Laptop - 06462QU - Black ------ $999 TOTAL
Core i5-450M 2.4GHz (500 GB HDD - 32 GB SSD)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730 1GB
15.6" HD LED Glare 1366x768
Here is the link for more info: Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 06462QU Notebook - Core i5 i5-450M 2.4GHz - 15.6" (Note: I will be buying from another site, but this one has a lot of info)

OR

Xbox 360 Slim 4GB Game Console --------------- $220 TOTAL

Viore 19" Class 720p 60Hz LCD HDTV (walmart) ----------- $165 TOTAL

IdeaPad Z560 Laptop - 09143AU - Black ------------- $650 TOTAL by 09/08/10

Do you need a four year laptop?
by R. Proffitt Forum moderator / September 6, 2010 5:46 AM PDT

If so, get the 360 for gaming so your laptop won't take the hit.

If you can live with a new laptop in 2 years, get the gaming laptop but beware that you get lower battery times, more weight to lug around.

Today I think the great combo is the boring laptop and an ipad.

That is a good point

It makes sense to get the Xbox and have the laptop for school use. I would want my laptop to last for 4+ years.

Bang 4 Buck
by b0hEm1An99 / October 7, 2010 9:39 AM PDT

i would go with the xbox 360, tv, and cheaper laptop. you get more bang for your buck plus black ops wont be the only game you play in the end. although a top notch gaming laptop is hard to beat. just an opinion though.
